Little fish fanatic and I tried to rebound from our last Pelican disaster. We arrived at the boat ramp around 5 pm, wind just started to pick up my luck. We decided to wait out the wind before launching and tried our luck off the dock. We caught a couple Bass or should I say my son caught a couple but we had the pleasure of meeting fast Eddie and the Calder crew that had wandered over from the Wasatch front. They were just loading up after a day on the water as we were getting ready to launch.

Around 7 pm the wind finally subsided and we headed out to the west following the weed edge and keeping at a easy casting distance. Casting a senko a couple yards into the weed line and having it dangle a couple inches from the surface, that was good enough for a greedy 13 inch bass to engulf my senko and after about a short tussle to get him clear of the weeds I had my first catch of the day. We caught around 10 in the last hour of light with none being bigger than 14 inches.

Again, Little fish fanatic and I had our usual fish contest and again I came out on the losing side. You might say I should be a proud Father but down deep I must have some retribution. Well, there is always next time and that will be on the 6th and 7th of July on Starvation, I think the young fellow will learn some humility. Sorry didn't have time for pictures but we drove up to Chepeta Lake this afternoon and I have some pictures of that trip. Chipeta area is my favorite place to camp in the summer to escape the heat.

Randy. Nice meeting you and your son Friday. My uncle who is 91 years young comes from California every year and looks forward to fishing pelican along with my cousin and younger brother. We enjoy ambushing those bass and bluegill or being ambushed by them. Went back Saturday morning the weather was great but fishing was slow. But the company was great so nothing to complain about. Took your advice and fished into the reeds Saturday and had a ball but need to work on my technique a lot. Years ago the reeds had a lot of open packet water and was a lot easier to get to the bluegill with the fly rod and spiders and a little twitchy twitchy produced a great day of fishing.

Now to address your son. Looks like you have a real fishing fanatic on your hands. He had to be one of the nicest young man I have meet Fishing in a long time. You could tell he enjoyed talking fish. And was as polite as could be. Nice job.

Hope to run into you again on the water and hoping we can fish together at some point.
