Took care of some morning business yesterday. Decided we didn't want to just hang around the house, Mantua is only spot close by that we had not been on yet this year. On the water @ 11:21 a.m. Wind was a bit gusty, but not too bad. Water level was normal. Grass was not as thick as I have seen it in the past. Only a few other boats out fishing. Didn't see anyone catching, wind came up pretty steady about 1:30 p.m. decided to hit the Bear River from the Bird Refuge ramp.
On the river about 2:30 heading up river. Wind still blowing but on the river felt pretty good, and helped keep the Deer flies down somewhat.
Ahi has no worries that we caught any of his big Cats yesterday. Only boated 3 small kitties , still sporting their light skin and spots, but they saved us from going home totally skunked.
Now, there has been some recent speculation on this forum that maybe someone from the northern Cat Contest team (namely me) may have used my 3 or 4 trips to Utah Lake, Lincoln Beach this year to stir up or even some how cause the current algae bloom that has closed the LB Marina and surrounding area.
OH NOT SO ! While I hope, and work, for the Northern Cat Team to win this year (again [sly]) I would [b]NEVER[b] stoop to such a low down tactic.
I would do everything I could to LEGALLY poach [pirate] one of BLK's, Tube Dude's, Ice_sled's, catchinon's, or any other Southern Fella's (or Lady's [
]) big Cats. Or maybe even hide BLK's boat keys, send his Cat crew back to summer school, let the air out of TD's tube and hide his pump, put Ice_sleds sled in cold storage, stop giving aid and assistance to catchinon and let him "catch-on" some other way. But I would NEVER contaminate the big pond, cuz that means I can't fish it either...........[mad] [fishon]
Seriously.......hope that bloom goes away fast, and UL gets some (lots) of new, fresh water input.
