Hello all! Heading to California to visit family and want to be sure if a few things. When they say "artificial", are e they referring to soft plastic baits as well? When fishing in barbless required waters, does every lure in your possession need to be barbless? Or just what is on your line at that moment?

Hi and welcome aboard.
Thank you for your question. I can help you clarify the answers you are looking for.
Artificial means nothing that has ever had a pulse to it. Plastics (hard and soft), wood, feathers are all in the artificial category.
No worms, crawdads, frozen dead fish or anything that was once a live being.
The barbless hook rule reffers to the hook that is tied to your line.
It sounds like you are planning on fishing one of the Wild Trout areas. There are a few that I like to fish.
Are you, by chance, going to Bishop area, Yellowstone or the Kern River?[cool]

Thanks for the clarification. Ended up not getting a chance to hit any of those places unfortunately. I'm excited to visit the area again in the future!

You are most welcome. Those are some of my favorite places to fish when I am on my home turf.
I do find enjoyment as a fly flinger in the fresh and saltwater.[fishon]
