Hey guys, I am here from Texas working for a while in Sinclair Wyoming. I would love to fish flaming gorge for some smallmouth or some trout or anything really. Not really wanting to do the whole guide thing. I get 1 day off every 2 weeks and that is this Friday. So if anyone is going fishing alone and wants some company..I have my own gear for the most part, I will pay for Gas and Lunch..Just want to get on the water and have a good time.

Rich, how long are you up here working? And is it the same every other Friday you are off or can you switch it up? My boat is about to go in the shop but I hope to get another trip or two in before it gets cold. We were just up there over the weekend and had to limp the boat back to the marina, still managed to catch a few in the process though.

Hey Rich,
Welcome to BFT, there's a pretty good chance someone will be able to take you along with them, we have a great group of fisher's here on the forum that are amazing how good they are to help out... Wish I could get down there this week and take ya out, but I'm not available to do it.. If you don't get lined up with anyone, I'm pretty sure we can put you on a spot on the shore where you can catch some fish... Ryno will know a great spot I'm sure, if not others can chime in there too...

If possible let someone take you fishing for the Kokanee, they are close to the end of the season, but pretty cool to catch salmon and the size is close to ocean fish at times... So if someone offers a chance to go for them, better take that while you can... smallies will be around next month, and macs as well... Wish you the best of luck and hope some of our members see this post and happen to be fishing Friday... Later J

Thanks skunked. Im a bass fisherman, but ill fish for anything. Never caught a kokanee or a trout, or walleye. Would love to do some smallie fishing as thats the gear i have with me. But like i say id love to catch any of those species. And on the long shot any of you guys get to texas ill repay the favor. I live on arguable the best largemouth lake in the nation sam rayburn reservoir, im also only 1 hour from toledo bend reservoir. So if any of you guys are going on friday or friday 2 let me know. Id greatly appreciate the opportunity. Like i said ill cover gas and lunch andnwhatever else may be needed. Thanks again.

It's no doubt the smallies are fun as they go airborne and do their antics on the way in, but it's always nice to expand your experience base and try the local fav's and the gorge is one of the best Koke reservoirs around, so it's a great spot to get into nice fish... Smallies at the gorge are not as world class of fish as other varieties are out of that pond... Last year they pulled a 50 some pound lake trout out of there, years past showed world record brown trout out of there and big bows show up every so often... So don't restrict yourself to one species, enjoy what's available to you... Most of the folks who may take you can put you onto what to use for tackle... I usually have a company pole that I loan out when I take folks with me, so my guest get onto whatever I'm after... Selfish in the long run because I don't have to mess around trying to make the wrong stuff work... If they lose any tackle would be appreciated if they pay to replace it... Just has worked well for me in the past... Anyway good luck.. Later J
