I fished Strawberry Bay on Saturday. I launched about 7:15 am at the main marina. The water was almost glassy smooth and the water temp was 62 degrees. I managed to catch 22 Cutts. All were in the slot and most were in the 14" to 17" range. I only caught maybe 4 small Shakers. No Bows this trip.
There was very little smoke in the air until the wind came up around 11:00 am and then the smoke from the Utah County fires started coming in. I pulled my boat out at 12:30 just as the white caps started.
It was a fun and relaxing day.

Nice report, and good to know the berry is out of the smoke plume or at least was... Thanks J

Bonoze,
I was fishing straight south of the marina trolling east and west along the south shore of Strawberry Bay from the East Portal to Haws Point. I was using a gold and silver dodger with night crawlers on my spinning gear pretty much on the surface. I was out about 150' behind my boat at 1.5 mph. I did catch one nice Cutt on gold and silver pop gear with leadcore down 4 colors.
I hope that helps

Thanks for the report. Glad you caught some too bad on the rainbows. We've had the same problem up there this year, a lot of cuts and very few bows.
Does the water look like pea soup yet?

Wingnut
The water was surprisingly clear. I did pick up some moss from time to time.

I was there last weekend as well both days. I broke the starter cord on my kicker motor early on so I had to use the big motor. I tied on a vibrax spinner and some Thomas speedy shiners brook trout and rainbow colors. I was trolling fast with only a quarter ounce split shot about eighteen inches up. I was trolling anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 mph and you couldn’t keep the slot Cutts off of it!! I mostly trolled in the channel out of the wind. The action was unbelievable and the smoke on Saturday was intense but it was a great time!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Johnr,
Thanks for your report. Sound like you have fun. I was up there again on Saturday the 22nd with three fairly novice fishermen. We launched about 8:15 am and trolled Strawberry Bay with dodgers and night crawlers on spinning rods and popgear on lead core with 4 colors. We landed 27 nice fish. One was a 14" Koke and the rest were Cutts. Three Cutts were over 19". They had never caught anything over 14" and thought they had died and gone to heaven. I was the guide and tackle guy and those three did all the fishing.
The weather was great until the wind and white caps came up around noon and we decided we had enough fun for the day. On the way out we stopped to view the Koke spawn and were impressed with the size of the Kokes.. The fish traps were full of male and female fish.
