HEADLINES: September 23, 2018
JC sat at the bar, with his head down, looking at the flat beer in his mug. Chris, his sidekick and best friend was sitting next to him, trying to bring JC to his senses.
Look JC you are a unique individual and you have many things to be proud of, and probably best thing is how you treat your clients. You always make sure they have everything they need and most importantly you are a straight shooter who wants everyone to have a great sport fishing experience while they are in Cabo.
Chris screamed: You are a little different, and you shoot your mouth off a little to much, about all your Marlin fish stories and that junk about you writing songs, being a best seller author, making movies.

JC, I really dont believe some of the stories about you, but I just listen to them because they are pretty entertaining. I really like the ones about you and Donald Trump.

That stuff about you being the COLONEL GADDAFI of Bluegill fishing in Missouri, I really dont believe that one, but I except it. You know JC I have heard them all, including the one about you having the Nic Name JC, the little Idi Amen of the Northwest, referring to the Salmon slaughter up there in the 80,s. Come on JC, pick yourself up, I dont believe these stories!!

That story about you when you lived in Arkansas, yea you know what I am talking about, they called you the Bullhead Butcher of Little Rock, in the 70,s.
Buddy I get it, I know it was a tough time for you back then and we all do things we regret, no one holds that against you.

I remember the game wardens in Arkansas calling you the Ted Bundy of fishing back then and I think they got that term from the millions of Carp you supposedly savagely murdered.

Remember that book you wrote Called "Mein Carp" it was a little to much for those days with all that talking about the extermination of every Carp on the face of the earth. The news papers back then reported it as the killing fields of Arkansas.

The New York Times called you the "Holocost Worm of the South" and the paper went on to publish one of your recipes "Creamed Carp on Toast"

JC, liven up man, those days are over with now, you have to move on and forget your past and just take care of your clients as you do. Your clients know the real JC and they want to fish with you and they dont care about your checkered past.

JC pick your head up and let me buy you a beer. At that point Chris screamed to the bartender!! Get JC another beer.

JC popped up and said look Sig and the boys up north got another thing coming if they think I am going to roll over and lose the Bering Sea to those Jackalopes. I will deal with them next week and then JC turned to Chris and said look dude I thought you were on that Catarmaran heading to meet with Sig.

Chris stuttered and said: yea I was, but I had the captain make a U turn and get back to Cabo. I have that Salsa dance class friday with Fish Report Boy and I didn’t want to miss it. We are learning The Maringa. I am flying out Monday and will be with Sig next week

JC,s LEGEND and LIES will continue next week!!!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Well, rain and storms started the week but Absolutely gorgeous right now. Well, its that time of year that everyone who lives in Cabo is looking forward to, a change from the Hot summer. I have been here many rears and I can feel it changing pretty fast but still hot in the day time and somewhat humid at night. We are starting to get that north wind and somethings up when it starts.

WATER: Its still around 82 and down a little. It has had a effect on the fishing it seems when the water cools some we are seeing more action.
Please check out the Tempbreak map link below to get a good idea on water temperatures.

BILLFISH: Spotty is the best way to describe marlin fishing now.The hot spot are up on the Pacific side up and off of Las Margaritas. We have landed a few fish in those areas. Most fish are in the 90 to 140lbs range. I wish I could report more marlin action but last week we had a rough seas and rain making it a not so good week.

Call me for reservations!!

DORADO: The Dorado fishing was better this past week are really enjoying having all kinds of Dorado over this past week. Really good action right now and we suggest you get on down here to get in on some of this action.
SWORDFISH: Hasn't heard of any caught this week.

WAHOO: The Wahoo fishing has slowed over the past week with really not the numbers we were seeing but still ok.

TUNA: Lots of football size Tuna, with good number being landed all week. The Tuna have been moving from the Horse Shoe to San Jamie Banks. The Tuna have been hard to catch actually with most fish hitting king busters but the bigger Tuna are biting live bait and lures. Quite a few Tuna in the 25 to 30lbs range also, so its been pretty good.

INSHORE: The inshore fishing has just been has been good with lots of action on smaller Tuna and Dorado. The Roosters are tight to the beach and the action is not great. If you are fishing a mile or 2 offshore you will catch fish. It might be worth grabbing a Panga and going out for a 5 hour excursion to see what happens inshore.

JC,s
Baja Tuna Salad Recipe!!!
Tuna Salad with Fresh Tuna
Makes about 2 cups of salad
2 5-ounce cans water-packed tuna fish
2 to 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 rib celery, diced small
1 small shallot or 1/4 red onion, diced small
1 tablespoon lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
1 tablespoon pickle relish, optional
Salt and pepper

Add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, celery, shallot, lemon juice, pickle relish (if using), a sprinkle of salt, and a few cracks of fresh black pepper to the tuna fish. Stir with a fork to combine, breaking up any large chunks of tuna fish as you go. Add more mayo if you'd like smoother, creamier tuna salad. Taste and add more of any of the ingredients to taste.
Use immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Tuna Salad Variations
· Use yogurt instead of mayo for a lighter salad.
· Use extra-virgin olive oil instead of mayo for a looser salad.
· Use canned salmon, smoked trout, or leftover chicken in place of the tuna.
· Add diced apples, raisins, or dried fruit to the basic recipe.
· Add diced fennel, shredded cabbage, diced cucumbers, or any other crunchy vegetable.
· Add a dash of curry powder, dukkah, harissa, chopped fresh herbs, or any other spice mix in your cupboard.
· Tuna and mayo — it's as simple as you can get, and a perfectly acceptable lunch.
JC,s Baja Tuna Linguine!!
Marinating tuna and chopped tomatoes in wine, lemon zest and olive oil for an hour makes a fresh, simple pasta sauce.

INGREDIENTS
· 2 tablespoons pine nuts
· 1 pound tuna steak, cut into 1/2-inch dice
· 1/2 cup dry white wine
· 1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
· 1/2 pound cherry tomatoes, coarsely chopped
· 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
· 1/4 cup coarsely chopped fennel fronds
· 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
· 1 pound linguine
· Salt and freshly ground pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a small skillet, toast the pine nuts over moderate heat until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl. Add the tuna, wine and lemon zest, 1/2 cup of the cherry tomatoes and 2 tablespoons each of the olive oil and fennel fronds. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
2. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large, deep skillet. Add the crushed red pepper and the remaining cherry tomatoes and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is flavorful, about 10 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, cook the linguine in boiling salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the linguine.
4. Add the tuna mixture and the remaining 2 tablespoons of fennel fronds to the skillet and cook over low heat, stirring just until the tuna starts to whiten, about 1 1/2 minutes. Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the linguine and the reserved pasta cooking water and toss well. Season with salt and pepper and serve at once.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
