Got out today around 2 and it was nice and windy and rainy. We ran a couple points and flats to start out that had wind blowing on them chunking Spinnerbaits, buzz baits, and swim baits. We did this for about an hour and never got a sniff. We decided to change it up and hit a broken up bridge in about 13-15fow. We got two quick keepers on jigs and big worms. Hit that for about 20 more min. and never got another strike. Left there and ran some lay downs. Got a couple more keepers and a few shorts doing that.
As it started getting later, I wanted to get on a spook and frog bite. Ran to a pocket that looked really good and I got one close to 4lbs on a frog. Had another fly out of the water but whiffed on the bait. Then we ran to a flat where I have caught some good ones in about 10fow. Got there and the bass were blowing up everywhere. We caught 20-25 fish pretty quick throwing Sexy dawgs and had one right at 4lbs and a few others around 3lbs. That started to tail off so I wanted to go try a stretch of grass that I thought might have some frog fish and it did. Fish were blowing up on bait all over the mat. We started tossing the frogs and Rex got a good one that was 5.12lbs (his best frog fish to date) and then next cast got another good one and it broke the line on a hard surge. Literally, throws back for the third time and hooks another good one that looked over 4 and it came undone right at the boat! We couldn't believe it but thats frog fishing. Went on down the mat and a few casts later I got a 4.36 and another one just over 3. By this time its dark and we had a little run to get back to the ramp so we decided to leave them biting after a great day of fishing. I've been doing so much night fishing lately I was afraid we might struggle some today and we did for a while until we found them. No pics today b/c they were biting in bunches and we didn't want to waste any time! Most of our fish and our best fish came on top water.
