In the latest UT DWR fishing report it says that there is ice but not safe to fish on.
Flaming Gorge Reservoir
There's ice from Lost Dog (Confluence) up to Firehole. The ice at Firehole is reportedly six to seven inches thick. Lost Dog recently capped, so the ice is still marginal and not fishable..
Hope this helps!

Thanks! Yes, it was very helpful. Hopefully this means there will be safe ice in a week or two.

People were fishing on the ice Saturday just north of the confluence They drove in from Lost Dog and the east side of the reservoir.

Thanks, Cessna 150!
That's useful. In the distance view of the first picture, I'm not sure if I'm seeing ice or wet water. You would know by seeing the movement of waves or not. What do I look for in the still picture in the distance view of water or ice to know the difference?

Thanks! I have to say that you consistently come through for the rest of us when we need recon at FG. Your photos are really valuable.

I went fishing at Lost Dog today (Thursday). I fished in the middle of the Green River channel in about 70' of water. The ice is clear and about 7" thick.
I got a decent view of the entire area as I approached, and in the morning it looked to me like the ice extended beyond the cliffs and down south of the confluence, but from a distance it didn't look safe south of the cliffs. There was what looked like open water right around the cliffs, but I noticed as the day wore on that the water expanded quite a bit to where by late afternoon the entire area around the cliffs and across to the eastern shore looked like it was open water. However, I think it was actually a thin layer of water on top of the ice. I didn't walk over there to investigate further.
The fishing was so-so but good enough. The macs were smallish and the rainbows were mostly good sized. Weather was perfect--no wind at all, sunny, and mild enough to take off the jacket.

Thanks for the update. I'm heading to Green River for the weekend at the in-laws and am hoping to get out a couple days.

Thank-you, Roynut! I expect that I will fish there. I like to look for structure (and fish) with my camera. Last time I fished on the side off an underwater cliff.
