My boys and I are planning a trip to Echo, never been before, but hoping to get into a spot where we can have a chance at perch on the bottom and rainbow up high. Hoping someone can tell us where the access points are, if they are all pay areas, and which ones might be the best place to starting point for accessing the deeper perch waters?

Here's a link to a map that shows the lake and Echo Dam Road that runs the length of the lake on the east side. You could drive down that road and look where others are or have been fishing. I have heard that fishing is good near the dam.

You could also do a search on here and you could go back on this forum and see what was going on last year and years before. Good luck and have fun. Let us know how you do. FWIW when we went Halis worked well for the perch.

This site has topo maps and satellite views. Just enter Echo Reservoir. The topo shows elevations in the reservoir and the old river bed. Good stuff.

When we went we parked in the driveway down to the resort and fished straight out onto the lake. Most people were fishing between there and the dam. We did well for perch.

The easiest acces is at the state park. It does cost $6 but you dont have to haul your gear down those big bolder hills. I caught perch in 20 ft of water last week. The deepest water on the entire lake may only be 30ft cause its so low. If you fish a lot, the state park yearly pass might be worth the investment.

The other recent threads that have Echo in their titles contain a lot of good information. You have probably been reading them anyway, but if not, look them over.

I really appreciate all the information. Hopefully the ice and edges will still be good with the warmer temps.

I, along with 3 other friends, took advantage of being at Echo today....ice was a solid 4", but edges were already going bad when we arrived at 0800...and had to jump about 3' when leaving at 2:00....warmer temps aren't doing us any favors....Guluk....
