I fished Sand Wash with my wife yesterday and got into a good perch bite. The water level is rising fast so the edges are not stable. I brought a plank that came in handy for getting on and off the ice. Once on the ice, it was good and solid and about 10" thick where we fished. We fished on the bottom in 35 FOW using sweedish pimples tipped with perch meat. Most perch caught were 8" - 9".

Been wondering when you would post a report from out in the Basin. Do you know of any other waters out there with enough ice to be safe to be on now?

I like your use of the plank--I just wish they made dehydrated ones[Wink].

Thanks for the report Ron. I also saw that Adam Eakle filmed part of his show there and long park Res.

Talking about using a plank for getting on and off the ice. I bought a 10’x12”x2” a few years ago during Yubas’ Perch hay day. Worked great for getting on the ice. When I got back later in the day some A-hole had taken it. Got wet past the knee getting off the ice. Go figure.

Hey Curt - I'll have to check it out.

I've heard that the perch out on at least one reservoir on the W Front are bigger this year -- 10" to 11". Sounds like from your report and Eakle"s that BSW perch are down in size this year.

I agree. Perch size at BSW seem to be down and there are many other options for bigger perch. But, it's fun and convenient for me to go collect perch fillets so close to my backyard.
