With the lack of info I decided to make a trip and find out for myself, got to strawberry at 3:15 this afternoon and found the lake, as far as I could tell, to be capped. After drilling a few test holes and finding 4-4.5” of ice everywhere we drilled, we decided to trek to one of the favorite spots, drilling along the way. Ice looked more sketchy than it was, parts were super clear and super slick. Arrived to the spot and set up in about 18’ of water and never moved. Ended up with 30ish between two of us in a couple hours. Great first outing with not even knowing if we were even going to be able to get out on the ice. Another plus was the over all size of the fish. Caught 3 slot buster cuts that went back, as well as many others that were pushing the limit. Caught a pretty nice bow that well wasn’t so lucky as to swim another day. Consistently bigger fish than the last couple years for me at strawberry. Hopefully it wasn’t a fluke.
