So as of last Monday there was 6-8" of ice in certain spots and open water out on the main body of the lake. Fishing was good! Caught some decent rainbows and cutthroat as well as some small tigers.
We took snowmobiles in on the back road so I'm not sure how the main road would be for driving a truck up. Maybe someone else could chime in on that.
Anyway, it was an eventful trip. Here's some photos as well as a link to a YouTube video I made if you'd like to see for yourself.

Thanks for the report; it looks like you had a great day. You've sure got me wanting to get up there! And I really appreciate this kind of info so I can keep track of which places are ready to get out on. Peace

Enjoyed your video, I've never fished Current Creek but have traveled by it many times Elk hunting, fresh elk steaks on the grill I could almost smell them, nothing better.

Those steaks were about as good as it gets out on the ice!

Update on the lake. A buddy went back up yesterday and said there isn't anymore open water, it's all frozen. Everywhere they drilled holes was about 8 inches thick.

Did your friends happen to mention weather they drove up the main road or took the back road you mentioned
I was hoping to be able to make it up to the salt shed or possibly the dam.... By truck that is

They took snowmobiles up the back road so I'm not sure how the main road would be.

Haven't been up there yet this year but past years we have been able to get to the dam in my Cherokee.
