I suppose those looking for a social occasion where they can catch fish under the ice would be enjoying this.

I don't go to bars or night clubs or dances, so this combines the best of both and it's even better! Besides, what are the odds of finding a single young lady who likes ice fishing at a bar or a dance compared to the picture you posted?

It depends upon the objective. It would work well with this event we've previously discussed:

Reminds me of the Perch Tourney at Fish Lake. Only on a smaller scale. Pretty neat to see 2200 fishers on the lake.

Curiosity got the best of me so I googled 'big ice fishing crowd" to try and find out where this was. Here is what I found:

Seems like there is a big tournament every year with 10,000 entries. That is a lot of sportsman!

I thought Echo was crowded on 24 Dec...

Reminds me of Sulpher years ago while everyone tries to catch 'Big Al'.
Out of curiosity, does the Evanston Lions Club still put on the Sulpher Derby?

I don’t think so. The Sulpher derby is or was ran as a fundraiser for a girls softball team. I saw a commercial they are having it again this year on 2/9. “Big Al” currently resides in Viva Naughton in a derby put on by the Kemmerer lions club. I believe those dates are 2/16 & 17.
