Has anyone checked the ice in the harbors lately? The camera at the state park shows some formation but it can't be very thick. Any forecasts of ice formation with this cold snap? Maybe I'll get out to check it today or tomorrow. Would be fun to get on it before the January thaw arrives.

I drove over to Lincoln on Friday afternoon wanting to catch some White Bass. The harbor was iced in. Very thin layer, but too thick to cast a jig. I am sure it is finished until melt off.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually looking forward to some fishable ice so I can get some fish for the contest.

I stopped at Pelican Bay around 1:30 today. It had a thin layer of ice with some open spots in the middle. There were several fisherman fishing from the holes they made next to the docks with shovels. It certainly was not ready to be walked on. There were lots of large rocks sitting on the ice at the ramp so that the prop companies can have some business😒.
The anglers said the whities had stopped hitting just prior to my arrival. Before that they were jumping into the buckets. One observer guessed that more than 400 fish were kept between 8 am and when I arrived. I might sneak down there tomorrow early to get my spot and pick up a dozen for the spring cats.

Just what I was thinking of trying. Maybe tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
