I was wondering about this too since I went to Utah/Idaho School Supply several weeks ago and found that after 100 years they had gone out of business. That was a good source.

[#0000FF]You might try the bookstore at the DNR building on North Temple. Lots of good outdoor recreation books and maps.

I have some of the Fish-n-maps contour maps. Use them a lot to figure out where to start especially ice fishing.
The link to their list available for Utah, most have more than one lake per map.
One of mine has Pineview, Lost Creek, East Canyon and Echo on it.
https://www.fishnmap.com/catalogframe.php
I buy mine at Angler's Den in Roy but I think I have seen them at Sportsman's Warehouse.
For the tech guys there used to be a free version app of Navonic but haven't looked at it for a while.

Get the Navionics map program for the western US and Canada.
It will not only show you the underwater topo, but also where you are.
Indispensable for finding mounds, breaks, and drop offs.

Last time I checked Navionics, they did not have many maps for Utha/Idaho other than Flaming Gorge, Lake Powell, and Bear Lake. Nothing for Deer Creek, Jordanelle, Echo, Pineview, Willard, etc, etc. I would recommend Fish-N-Maps. They have the most complete inventory of Uttah/Idaho maps that I am aware of.
40 odd years ago, I was looking for maps of all the reservoirs in Utah, none existed. At that time there was a Gelogical Survey office in Provo, where the 4th District Court house now stands. I talked to one of the guys there and he let me make copies of all the topo maps that they had, original topo maps from the original surveys of the land BEFORE the reservoirs were formed. I ended up with maps of Deer Creek, Pineview, Yuba, Starvation, Rockport, and Echo, along with a survey of Utah lake showing depth and spring locations. Shortly after I obtained these, the office was closed and who knows where the maps ended up.
Several years later, attending the Boat Show in SLC, I struck up a conversation with Curtis Sportbert, owner of the Fish-n-Map Company. He had a booth at the show and was selling his maps. Most of them were of Colorado and Wyoming. Curtis was a topographer for the oil industry and had access to all kinds of maps. He put his skill as a topographer to work to make maps of lakes where he liked to fish. I told him about my collection and he came to the house to check them out. Several of the maps consisted of multiple sheets that I had taped together so as to have a continuous sheet.
After looking at them, he asked if he could have them to make maps from. I was more than happy to give them to him as the were difficult to use in the format I had. About 6 months later, I received a package from Curtis that contained 2 coppies of each of his maps for Deer Creek, Pineview, Utah Lake, Yuba, Rockport, Echo, and Starvation. He has added several others to his collection since then, but those were the maps that he used my maps for.
So go with the Fish-n-Maps because I know for a fact that they come from the original survey maps of the lake bottom before flooding !!!

[#800000][font "Comic Sans MS"][size 3]It would be absolutely fantastic if Fish-N-Map would produce an electronic version that could be downloaded to a phone and sonar/GPS unit. For those lakes that have published contours, this would be indispensable.

I use both the Navionics boating app and the Fish N Maps. The maps are great for seeing the overall body of water and giving an idea of where to fish. The Navionics app is awesome where you can zoom in, add pins with notes, and have real time GPS data while on the water.

Here is the problem with contour maps and reservoirs. If you look at Echo the online map says elevation of 5500ft. I was standing on echo with my gps and it measured 5550 at it's current low level. So unless you can map the reservoir it's hard to know what the water debth is gonna be based on a contour map.

I agree that the Fish-N-Maps are very good. I did a bunch of bottom-mapping with my Helix 7 last spring, and I was surprised how accurately similar those paper maps were to what I was recording on bottom.

Bob, I haven't talked to Curtis in over 40 years, but I would bet that if you contacted him and suggested to him that he digitize his maps, he would most likely do it, if he hasn't already done so. The guy is a genius, but very eccentric.
I need to check out the Navionics maps and see what they are like. I have seen one for Lake Powell and was not that impressed, Fish-n-Maps was better. I have another set for Powell published by Hydrosurveys Inc that are the best I have seen. But the only maps from them have been Lake Powell.
