Hello my new fishing buddies. Newly signed up on BFT, but have been reading and enjoying the posts for years. Unfortunately I am still a working man during the week and only get to fish with the crowds on the weekends.
Anyway, any new report on Rockport? I have been at Echo the last 3 Saturdays. Last Saturday was a joke with all the 10,000 people that showed up. The first 2 were spectacular.

Hey there. I plan on fishing it Saturday morning when I am leaving work (work graves at the mine to the west of Rockport). I will post a report. As far as Echo goes I am a little upset at the giant hordes raping it everyday being only at about 15 percent capacity since Christmas break started. I love fishing it since I live in Henefer and can be on the lake in about 10 minutes from home. Was disappointed in the size of the rainbows this last year mostly being in the 14 inch range while the prior year most of the rainbows were about 18 inches. All of the people I had seen fishing since ice on have kept limits of trout and all the big perch which is fine when it isn't being fished as concentrated as it has with the water level so low. Sorry to rant just concerned about the upcoming year.

we fished rockport on new years day and it was a little slow. We had a group of 15 anglers with 2 poles a piece and only iced 12 fish. Most were small rainbows but we did manage one brown and 2 perch. All of the fish were caught within 1 hour of the sun coming up then not a single bite. I do think that the storm that rolled through on Monday may have messed with the bite a little. If you decide to give it a try, good luck! let us know how you do

Thank you for the report.
I like to go after both trout and perch. I will let you know where we end up and how we do.

The perch catching was pretty slow for us yesterday but the planter bows were coming through pretty steady.

Same as just reported.....small rainbows, perch and a brown.
Fish early before the crowds show up, use a spring bobber or light rod to detect the light perch bite.
Ice is plenty thick over the whole reservoir

We noticed the same thing with the perch there, very lite bites. Looked like people were using snowmobiles on the entire lake, not a lot of snow on the ground around the lake but snow was drifting pretty good on the lake.
