Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew the current conditions of Panguitch. I was just curious of the ice thickness, snow depth, and if anyone was running side by sides out there? We are making a 4.5 hour trek there this weekend with the family and would like to know what to be ready for. Thank you guys!

I know that there was 6-9" of ice two weeks ago. The 9" should hold a side-by-side but the 6" might be a little iffy. Hope this helps; wish I knew more.

It was really nice on Christmas Eve. 6" of ice where I fished. Maybe less toward the middle. There's some large cracks out there that you may wanna watch out for. They looked a bit shady.
When you go, I've seen quite a bit of success about 1000-1500 feet out from the east shore, at about the mid point in the lake. I'll probably be out there this weekend as well. There's some FAT trout in there this year.

Dirty 42 thank you for the info, I greatly appreciate it! This will be our first trip ever to Panguitch. I think we are just going to just walking instead of side by side. Do you happen to know how much snow is on the ice now? Thanks again

I don't. I haven't been down there for a couple weeks. I'm originally from there, so I feel pretty confident in telling you that you'll be perfectly fine walking. Everyone else does.
Dunno what others are using, but I'd been using white tube jigs. Lately I've been spicing them up a little bit with some fly tying supplies to give a little more color and sometimes an additional hook near the back if I'm trying to put some food on the table. That same rig was working well for Deer Creek too, but I'd pack them with foam and use whatever hooks I had on hand so they'd float off the bottom. That also worked really well in Panguitch during the fall.
