Arrived at the ladders around 5:00 am and a mild -6*. I walked out and close to the
dle and drilled holes and and set up the tent. I couldn't finish setting up for awhile due to the bite being fast and furious. I was in about 12 feet of water, using all colors of jigs tipped with a worm. The bite was great up until around 8:30 am and then it slowed down. Most of the fish were swimming just below the ice and you would see them zip by your hole and hit your line. It was around 9 am that the alarm on my easy jigger went off as I was outside talking to some other fishermen. I finished talking and went back into the tent to see a rainbow on one of my lines and a very large cutthroat chasing it, trying to eat it. The 2 fish had tangled both lines up so badly, I had no idea how I was going to get them up through the hole. As I let the line out on one pole, the cutthroat spooked and took off, breaking the line he was hooked on. It took awhile to get the trout in since I had to pull it in by hand. I was very lucky not to have both poles pulled down into the lake. Next time I'll have to get to the poles a little faster.
