Fished Jordanelle (Rock Cliff) first half of day yesterday with Barry. No slush and ice was about 9 inches thick and thank you to the Utah State Parks employee for plowing the old road way beyond the bottom of the boat ramp.
Conditions were great but there were few fish to be found. I managed two trout and I think Barry caught 4.
Where my sled is on the ice, in the picture below, the ice is about 7 or 8 inches thick and a hundred yards or so further out (very close to where the no-wake buoys are located) is open water.
Gave up on Jordanelle, Barry headed for home and I went exploring. First stop was Deer Creek. Met a fishing buddy just coming off the ice at the Island Boat Ramp. He reported that he had caught a few fish (I didn't ask what species) and the ice was only 3" thick. I decided it wasn't risking my life (fishing alone) for slow fishing, so I continued west.
Next stop was Utah Lake State Park. I talked to a guy coming off of the ice and he said that he had been fishing since about 9 AM and had had one bite (which he missed). I tried my luck anyway and I marked nothing on the fish finder in about 45 minutes of fishing. I moved to another location and marked a couple fish but no bites. A nice guy suggested I try a location where he had had a little success. I moved a comfortable distance away from him and proceeded to catch 5 white bass and 1 perch in about one hour of fishing. Of course no good deed goes unpunished and the guy who gave me the tip got skunked. The ice was about 3 1/2" thick.
A couple pictures are attached for the guy who wants to see pictures.
