I just started a new trout Fishing Guide Service.

I have a site to promote it.

These are some of the comments I have gotten:

too slow to load

too many photos

people want immediate gratification

love your photos

i go back each week to see the new photos

can't wait to see March 06 opener photos

you are losing business by slow load

If you can afford a trout fish guide.....you can afford a fast/new computer.

Input please?

ssor on the ohio and texas board might have a few shortcuts you can use to speed things up on the site , try the angler and davetclown as well.

check out and ask questions on the fishing webmasters board , post a link on the advertisers board .

hey , those panther martins , sweet . i'm now useing them thanks to you !

It took the page a bit of time to download through DSL. What format are the pictures? That may have something to do with the speed.

I did make smaller..............

but then it looked bare,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Not personal anymore..........

Heck......I added stuff and a complete entire page!

I wasn't talking about the size but the format. .jpg, from what I've been told, is a compressed format which should load quicker than .tiff or .bmp formats.

Some things I would do is to try and optimize the pictures (lower the file size) and that would make things load alot faster. Another suggestion is to make the hompage more compact. Try changing the format so that you dont have to scroll down forever.

Other wise looks pretty good.

Hi there spinner,

I haven't my website up yet, probably shouldn't be trying to give advice but when I was in web class we were shown how to first have the pictures download to the screen in a degraded image so that people could immediately see progress ([Smile][Smile][Smile]) and TEXT! As people would start to read and be occupied with the text the pictures would become nice and crisp.

This may be old stuff but it was OK for 2 years ago! I believe you had to put BOTH pictures in your files but hey.... whatever works!

Hope this helps.

Hello Spinner,

Good looking site but load time will be a factor on slower connections. Try:
