Does anyone here tape fishing video using an underwater camera like Aqua-vu? I'd like to pool knowledge.
If anyone's interested, some of my underwater pike fishing pics are here:

Hey Odin, Hi and welcome to the BFT message boards. I personally don't have an underwater viewing device, but there are a few members on the Utah board here on this site that do have the viewers. You might try that quuestion over there or simply wait for a reply here.

Hey there Odin,
Whoops I better watch myself. With you being Odin and all, I wouldn't want to feel your rath in the form of the usual lightening bolts and hammers!
Welcome to BFT. If you ever catch a big 30 pound pike smiling, I'd like to see that!

I have seen those video cameras before on sportsfishing shows. There pretty cool[cool]
I friend bought one because he wanted to know what was taking his bait. He finally realized his hook was to big for the fish he was trying to catch. He took a still picture as the fish opened his mouth.[shocked]
He went down a few sizes and started landing them. So many people use hooks to large. Not no mo[sly]

Hey there Odin,

to BFT! Nice pictures you have there.
I've always wanted to get a aqua view, but I lack on the $$. I could watch underwater footage all day. Did anyone see that episode of Al Linder when he caught all those giant pike? That footage of all those strikes was amazing!

Didn't see that but I did see some slo mo video and still shots of shark attacking bait and hook.
There is like no life in those eyes. Pretty scary. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against sharks and no they are a valuable park of the marine ecosystem but there eyes are still scaring.[sly]

Hi Lonehunter,
I tape around here until August, when the lakes get too murky.
I've got about 150-200 pike hits on tape. In these parts (Minnesota), pike provide the most violent hits. (Well, muskies would probably be just as good, but I haven't taped any yet.)
My favorite method is drifting with the camera and bait just off the bottom. It's cool watching the underwater terrain come into view.
What do you fish for in your neck of the woods?

Hey Odin,
Welcome to the board! Enjoyed looking at the pics you've got of the Northern checking out and attacking your bait. Can't wait until I can afford an Aqua-vu.
What part of Minnesota are you from?

[cool][cool]Hey Odin, I also have an Aqua-vu and I would like to take pictures as well. My camera is a Sony digitcam but I don't have a connection any suggestions as to where to get the cable I need I didn't find it in my accessories catalog. Thanks

Hey Chief,
The Digital 8 Sony cameras I've bought (2) have come with a cable to connect the camera to the t.v., and I've used that for the connnection to the Aqua-vu. You can also buy a cable from most places that sell camcorders. (Best Buy, Circuit City, some Radio Shacks, etc.) The best they sell is called Monster Cable - Camcorder to TV / VCR. They cost about 25 bucks and the shorter the better. (The shortest I've found is 6 feet.) I usually use the Monster cable, but I'm not sure there's a difference in the quality of the result.
If you have an original Aqua-vu, the ones without a Video Out port, you'll need a little connector to connect the Aqua-vu monitor cable to the camcorder cable. I buy those at Circuit City, too.
I've tried a later-model Aqua-vu, one with red and green lights, and wasn't happy with the background, tiny horizontal flashing lines that were too distracting. I prefer the original white-light model, where the background looks like London fog. OTOH, the red-and-green model has better clarity, so it's a trade-off. I'm hoping to find a model that gives me both -- good background and better clarity.
Good luck taping! I'd like to see your pics when you get 'em. Lemme know if you run into any snags.

Ahhh. I'm in Fridley but can't afford to move otherwise I'd be headed further north myself.
Got any plans for the 2nd weekend of March? BFT trip to LOTW. Talk to Flagmanonice for more info or check out the Minnesota board.
