Broke out the brand new Fly rod sunday! the Weber was on fire.

caught several White fish on D.A.Caddis with Zebra midge dropper.

Hatch came around noon, small gnats, used a size 20 black Dyrmerger and caught some beautiful browns.

Fished the middle section.

James, I have not fished the Weber very much. Where is the middle section? I was told that you can't park on the side of the freeway, so where do you park? A lot of the Weber has no trespassing signs on it. Is there a map or some way to find the good access along the freeway? I have fished south of Coalville, with good success, along the section that had ladders installed by the DWR a couple of years ago. The problem is, that a lot of folks know about that small stretch and it gets heavy pressure. The locals from Morgan to Mtn. Green are very closed mouth about legal fishing access so it is hard to find. I would love to fish the Weber more if I could just gain access to some good stretches of water. Anyone with ideas please PM me or just post the info if you don't care who sees it Thanks DKS

Some day we're gonna have to hook up and fish that area together so I know wheer in the heck I'm fishing. Went up Sunday and fished South fork and the Ogden river below the dam and got shut out for the first time this year. Did get a couple bites but no fish. Was still a nice day to be out.

The middle section has alot of access to it. The section I refer to as the middle is between Rockport and Echo. at the Coalville exit there is a frontage road that fallows the freeway for a couple miles there is several fence walk overs that the DWR has put in for access. Also at the wanship exit there is a parking lot to park in and right at the foot of rockport dam is a park.

So the entire section between Rockport & Echo is open for puiblic access? I tried to fish that area a long while back and got chased away, but that was a long time ago (+10 yrs} Because of that I've never been back. I sure would like to get up there soon and try my hand at it. Its some awesome looking section of river.

Maybe I'm dumb but what is a D.A. Caddis? When I was there last week there was a lot of ice. How is it now?

Not the whole thing, but most of it is ok. That is dew to our Habitat money we donate to the state every year.

Hear is a pic of a D.A. Caddis,it stands for dumb ars, because even a dumb ars can catch fish on it.

What make and model is your new rod and how did it fish?

Yup. Thats the dry fly for me, cause like he said, even this dumb ars can catch fish with it. Never hard it called D.A. before.

Works as a pretty good attractor. Caddis, humpy, wolf, hopper, stimulator and ant. That usually works for me. I have to hard of a time with the whole match the hatch thing.

Now it's my turn to be Confused. Isn't this caddis a nymph? James, this stretch of the Weber is the one I fish also. Are there many spots through the canyon that are accessible? I don't fly fish in the winter much anymore. Is the best time of day for trout when the sun is up and a hatch is on? I would nymph in the mornings and switch to dries if I saw a hatch come on. I guess that is what you were doing also. DKS

G-Loomis GLX Stream Dance,Max line speed 9' 5wt.

the D.A. is a nymph

the dry I was catching them on was a black drymerger. here is a pic.

Matching the hatch is actually very simple, see bug on water, pick fly that looks like it.

the canyon is great for access,no private that I know of. DKS you are right on the money with when to fish in the winter.
