Early morning on Sunday my partner and I located some warmer inlet water on the north end of the lake which was in the low 60's. White bass males were staging in abundance with great appetites, after 30 or so we had some fun and plenty of bait. A couple of carp fell claim to an arrow or two for multiple bait options, as the wind ranged in the upper teens we relocated to some protected water for the prespawn cats. 17 total with a 75%males 25% females.
Using the catch and attach method of a #18 J hook with liter and bobber in the outer dosal fin, upon release the cats painted there location picture of returning to the exact location as caught. Now we have established a pattern for location, then we retrieved the bobber, liter, and hook and continued to catch Channels from 6 to 12 lbs. over the course of the next several hours.
Both species are staging in traditional prespawn locals.
With some stable weather patterns and continuing rise in temps the concentration of staging spawners will increase for all to enjoy.
