Yup, mostly my canoe was a'Rockin....most of the morning....Not super fishing, but way better than my last attempt at E.Canyon a week ago.....buddy and I put in at about 0800, air temp. 35* and surface water 50*....sunny, and soon air temps made for a very pleasant fishing A.M. on the water, but winds did not stay calm, so the okay fishing was mostly disrupted by too heavy winds..only 2 other boats seen on the res., and one pulled out just before we did at 11:30....did alright trolling pink/silver hoochie with custom spinner blades in front, tipping w/1" piece of nite crawler....a rainbow Kamlooper spoon also worked.....Rainbows are healthy looking 13, 131/2", and should be in really good shape for this Fall....Guluk...

Last year we had fun with our kayaks on the upper end where the river comes in. Much less wind easy access. I have always caught fish with pop gear and worm.

I do have a bigger boat set up for trolling also, but early Spring it's just fun being out on water in my canoe...I troll it with an electric......That said, I am getting a smaller 10' kayak (soon) mainly for marsh hunting, but maybe also to try fishing....my main concern is: needs to be lightweight, color maybe tan or olive drab, and not too tippy....Tamarack maybe? what do you have? any other recommends? tks....

Haven't fished rockport in a while. Is the water still low?

Water is way up from what it was last summer/fall....but it could still easily hold another 10 or 15'.....clarity is still very good, esp. in comparisson to what E. Canyon was a week and half ago......This A.M. (Mon.) my wife was my canoe partner at Rockport again, and we did really well on 13" rainbows, keeping just 6, releasing 6, and missing about a dozen more good hits....we trolled mainly near the dam, and another buddy and his friend also did good trolling in their boat....fish are in there....today we just hit it right because winds were very calm for a small craft, fishing 0900 to near 1200....surface water up 4* from Friday, to 54*......Guluk...
