[font "Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"][#000000][size 2]Federal law requires boat manufacturers to recall and repair their vessels if they're found not in compliance with Coast Guard regulations, or to address safety defects, for 10 years after manufacture. But the law only requires that recall notices be sent to original boat owners. With most boats changing ownership at least once during the first 10 years, boat builders often have difficulty reaching subsequent owners.[/size][/#000000][/font]
