So I came out to camp today on the 4th of July at Lincoln beach. I got out here at 5:45 pm when the craziness of the day had left in past to the high winds. To my surprise there was a boat beached on the north dike on the rocks at the mouth of the Harbor. Later on about 8:45 I took a walk to show my wife on the dike so she could get a close up look and there was a man and women leaving,it was the owner. He had left his wallet and came to retrieve it. Apparently coming in they lost engine power and the waves pushed them up on the rocks. He was disturbed but in better spirits than I would have been. He said the Boat is full of water and that he will be back tomorrow when hopefully the winds die down and see what he can do.

Respect the Wind at Lincoln Beach. I was washed into the rocks at the first spring in a smaller boat. Fortunately water levels were low and I could drive down to load my boat. Now I am very gun shy at Utah Lake. Sometimes leaving early only to have calm seas after trailering my boat. This poor guy my have some serious issues with his boat and motor. But they did get off the water safely!

He was lucky enough to get of safely thank goodness but his boat May have serious issues come morning. Those rocks may not be generous. I just hope it doesn't and up costing him serious dough. Gladyou we're able to get out of your fiasco when yippy got into trouble. I had a bad experience where I almost got smashed on the rocks and it scared the day lights out off me as well. I'm a bit reserved with much wind.

Hard to tell for sure but in your second pic, it looks like there is a big crack at the bottom on the hull. If it is a crack or it is ripped open from hitting the rocks that boat might be toast.

Never pays to ignore the winds at UL, and a few other places. Glad he and wife got off safely.

Good thing on the insurance. I got enough insurance to buy me a real boat if something happens to this one! Live and learn.

They floated it down the channel this morning. I'm not sure if there was a crack or not I want there when they got it to the ramp as I had to run to town but they got it of the rocks and out of the water.

Did they bring it in under its own power or tow it?

I'm not sure. They had about 15-20 people show up to help then I left. I'm not sure if they walked it down or had another boat. He had lost power coming in and the boat was filed with water so I doubt it it was his own power.

Do you know how many fow are in the channel now?

I don't Jim doesn't have depth finder that works and I haven't used my boat in a week or two

I hate it when its windy. From an experience a long time ago at Strawberry. When the wind starts up I'm gone or at least to an area where it's sheltered somewhat. It scared me enoungh that I'll never let that happen again. The wind can be brutal and it can produce large waves in a matter of minutes. Although the boat I was in was smaller and I was a dumb kid at the time the wind earned my respect from that day forward.
