So after I finished Cookie's honey-do list Saturday, we ran up quick to the Norway flats road to check and see how Little Elk Lake fared the winter. Been a long time and managed to take a wrong turn and ended up hiking into Hourglass Lake instead. Way to hot when we finally got to it, but we saw a bunch of real nice Tigers cruising. They were not much interested in playing but Cookie managed to catch one that will be her new personal best.

Norway flats road is a real beast, so if you want to try it, its high clearance vehicles only and dont be a wimp about scratches on the rig either.

This is a lake I have got to go back to this fall when it cools down and the crowds leave to see if I can tie into some of those old boys.

I did get follows on bead head nymphs, but not hits. They ignored all spinners and everything else in my flybox.

That is a great looking tiger! Just catching one of that size would make the trip worth it. Nice report.

There are more of them swimming in that lake - better break out your gear and see if you can figure em out and teach me how.

First I thought it was the other “Hourglass, or Spectacle” over by Alexander. Supposed to be brookies in the one by Alexander but I’ve never caught or saw one in several trips there. Looks fishy and stocking reports say fish but I report otherwise.
