Made it out to Starvation this morning g to try out my new (to me) outboard on my toon. Water Temp 72 degrees at launch around 6:30 am. Caught my Limit of Walleye a few perch and smb and one chunk Rainbow. I did manage to catch the smallest Walleye that I have ever caught he was an over achiever.

I fished RG and the first buoy yielded a few but the other side of RB opposite the 1st buoy next to the weed line was the best. Neon Mooneye in 1/4 tipped with half a crawler worked best but my new secret weapon was a close second. That weapon would be TD's own pistol pat they liked that a lot.

My motor worked like a charm and really made me more mobile and would troll down to .5 mph and would top out at around 6 mph on my moves. This will let me fish water that I have never been able to fish before. The power squadron was unbearable and they drove me off by 1 pm and I am hard to drive off. RB campground upgrades has brought a lot more campers who have brought a lot of boats. I have reservations for Labor day weekend at Fred Davis State Park AKA (Starvation State Park) and I am done fishing Starvation until then for the boats were that bad.

Nice looking set up on your Scadden pontoon. I have a Scadden Cardiac with 4 tubes. Sometimes I use a Minnkota or sometimes a Yamaha 3 HP on it. The gas motor makes it move real good.

Looks like the maiden voyage went well for you - to bad about the freeway like traffic on the lake though. I guess that is to be expected nowadays - especially on a summer weekend.

I should have known better, live and learn. That little motor will help me fish water that I have never been able to fish before. Overall a pretty good day but I wish the Walleye were running a little bigger. I guess I need to start trolling at night I would catch bigger fish. You ever float the Green on your Scadden? The float from the Dam to little hole is a half day float I slow it down and get a little more out of it. I catch some real nice Brown's out of there.

Yes I have floated that section (and others) of the Green. And you are correct - there are some nice fish to be caught there. Of course if you go past there down to like browns you get some fine river too - I would not want to have a motor on a raft in some of that - like washboard and red creek -depending on water flow though.

This year has been a little scetchy with the high water, need to definitely be careful. Living in Vernal it's pretty easy for me to float it a few times a year. I always go motorless down the Green.

[#0000FF]I toldja you would like the trinkets. They always work well on Starvy. Got some other colors too. In the attached pic, look at the olive and the motor oil. They work great with 2-3" craw color tubes or grubs...with a bit of worm sweetener.[/#0000FF]

I am not sure Pat but it just seemed like they hit thr Pistol Pat a little harder than the other stuff.

[#0000FF]That has been my observation too. I also fish them a lot at Utah Lake, for white bass and walleyes, and sometimes the big cats hit those little jigs so hard it just about takes the rod away.

[#0000FF]I suppose that little airplane spinner helps. It spins both on the lift or retrieve and on the drop. That makes them work well for ice fishing. And I can't begin to remember all the times I have had fish hit them on the drop...after a cast...or when I have started to reel after the jigs have touched down and found a fish attached.[/#0000FF]

Glad you made it out to Starvation. Sounds like you had a decent time. I will wait for the construction to be finished before I head back out that way. Last trip there I had to wait over 20 minutes to go through the one lane. I am entertaining the idea of crossing over to Wyoming and chasing eyes at Sulfur Creek near Evanston. I hate making choices of fishing on where to chase fish. I have visited there a couple of times and caught a few eyes. No giants, but edible in size. The eyes have been there for some time now and there should be some big ones around somewhere over there.

Nice report. What hp is your motor?
[signature]
It's a 1974 4HP Johnson

It sure looks great for being that old. Did you get a deal?
[signature]
I would be going Thursday to Sulfur Creek. Sorry Randy.

If I wasn't the mine foreman this week I would play hooky and join you.

How can I get some good of these from you? Do you sell them online or is there somewhere I can go to to get them? Thanks for any and all assistance.

[#0000FF]I don't have a big commercial operation. But I do make enough of my fave things to be able to share with a few fellow tanglers. And I'm always tinkerin' around to come up with new stuff. Got tired of having to settle for what tackle purveyors said I needed...just because that was all they had.[/#0000FF]

First thanks for the report - I like to fish RG but it's been a couple years...

Was wondering if you go to the gas motor do you have to have a fire extinguisher on-board ? Also wanted to know if you fish before or after the sun is behind the mountains do you need navigation lights?

I bought the motor from an older Gentleman that can no longer fish. It was in his basement and had not run in 10 years but it was babied. I got it home and hooked up my gas can and by the fifth pull started right up. I didn't change the plugs or anything and I only paid $150 for it. So i guess you could say I got a great deal, almost felt guilty about it. He also has a 25HP evinrude for sale that is immaculate. I think he was asking $650 for it and it was fully serviced last year.

I hope I don't need a fire extinguisher on board because I don't have one unless you count my many bottles of Mountain Dew. As for lights I have a couple Led lights that are red and green that I use at night, plus I have a headlamp that I use that also has a green and red light. I really don't know whether I am out of compliance or not but I have run into park Rangers after dark and they haven't said a thing to me. But thanks a lot now you really have me thinking Lol.
