Weren't overly confident starting. We have been averaging two keepers at best on our last few outings on Chick. Ran to our first spot , started fishing over a weed bed. Mike catches several on a whopper plopper, I get a short on a 1.5 squarebill, plus a bonus shellcracker. Only one of Mike's was a keeper, though the top water bite lasted longer than expected . Moved to second spot, caught a couple, just one keeper, our best fish.Came on a Senko. Spot three was deeper water, caught our spot on a c rig, with a Producto high floater on the end.
Made a run up river, fished a place I found fish Friday. They just weren't home Saturday. Ran south, fished over the weeds to finish. Most of our fishing was less than 8 fow, mostly flats. Threw cranks, Senko, worms, topwater, jigs, chatterbait. Plastics did all the damage.
Spot-o-potamus did win us a big fish at a scale straining 1.12#, helped pay the gas bill. BTW, it was the only spot weighted in, couldn't lose.
Good to see everyone. Thanks to the committee for another well run event.
