Hey SoCal anglers, I'm heading back to the CAT on Friday 3/05. I figure the fishing should be good considering that everyone will be at the Fred Hall Show.

Is there anyone Not going to the show on Friday that would like to hook up on the Catalina Express??? That seems to be the only boats going out there right now. Let me know so we can make arrangements.

Hi TubeN2,

I forgot how to spell jealousy! There is a saying amoung old hands of the FH show. Having to be at the FH show automatically kicks off a big bite of the White Sea Bass at Catlina![laugh][laugh] From my experience... 3 out of 5 years that's TRUE!

I've read reports about Avalon in the late 1800' where schools of 30 lb WSB would herd baitfish all the way to shore at the harbor back beach! Dorsal fins out of the water!!! That would be nice to experience.

Good luck,

JapanRon

I am so bad. I forgot to say which Friday. It will be Friday March 5th. That is next week if anyone would like to join my son and I. I was tagged on the Solar-lunar mechanism as one of the "Excellent" days. TubeDude is making me up a special care package to take out for Calis, Sculpins and maybe even some WSB.

If anyone wants to go just send me a PM and I'll let you know the details.

Hey JR, I hope that works out this year. That would be nice. We are going to do an all day, all nighter fishing marathon.

Hey Releasit, I was considering one of those little boats but after I saw 5 of them get towed backin in within their first hour of operation, I decided that I am going to start looking for my own boat to moore out there. Thanks for the advice anyway. It should be a fun trip.

Really? I have gone out several times with no problems. One thing people do not pay attention to is KELP!!

It get's all wrapped up in prop and kills motor. So person on boat doesn't realize this and get towed in. I never heard of motor issues.

I hope nothing has happened to the boats because I am planning on going out in June[unsure]

I wouldn't go out either if I saw them being towed in. I saw a few of Davy's Jones being towed in during summer. I heard they got new boats. Supposed to be nice[Wink]

I'm not sure what the issue was with the boats but they Harbor Patrol was pretty busy that day. They even had to rescue a Bayliner that forgot to put in the bilge plug. [pirate][pirate][pirate][pirate] What an idiot!!!!!. By the time they got him back into the harbor, he only had about 7' of bow sticking out of the water.

The guy with his wife and 6 children were all fighting over the 3 lifejackets that were on board. Double idiot!!!!! I'm sure he got a stiff warning for that. They kids were all under 16.

In my book of safety rules, I don't care about the age. If you have a pulse and are breathing, you need a life jacket.

I owned an motor boat and all my vest had a strobe, whistle and 1 flare in pocket. Cost more than normal of course but worth it.

People think because there so close to shore nothing bad could happen. What is the tide is going out? What about water tempature? What if your hurt?

Never goes through there heads. And what kind of idiot launches a boat wihtout the drain plug being in! He should not of even owned a boat.[crazy]

Especially a Bayliner. Those are nice boats/ cruisers. They can pull extra water skiiers as well as take you to an ocean fishing spot rather quickly.

They should have better control on who buys a boat these days.
