Fished Mantua yesterday (Friday). My son and I got there about 815 and left about 3. Cold start with the clouds and then it opened up with beautiful sunshine until about 2 when the clouds rolled back in. Then the wind came and ushered us off by 3. Fishing was relatively active for us with lots of bites but we really had to sort through a bunch of small perch and bluegill to find the ones we kept. Even then, the ones we kept were really quite small but made for a delicious fish fry when we got back home. Caught the majority of them on tungsten tear drop jigs tipped with spikes. We tried nightcrawlers, wax worms, perch meat and meal worms and the spikes were the ticket. It was a fun day but I’m hoping to find some bigger perch! Ice averaged 5-7 inches. Good luck out there.
