Paul could you get me a better background so I can see better, that grass is really hard to distinguish fish from background. Looks like you were a little under on the nose but over on the tail so it still made the length, but it’s hard to see. Thanks Jeff

Congrats Paul, first time I’ve seen a 30 on the first part of the contest let alone the first day. Nicely done.

You are right that the picture showed a bit short on the nose, but over on the tail. Although it wasn't short anywhere when I measured. I was really surprised that I caught a fish of that quality on the first day. I wasn't expecting much. The water was really cold but each of the 4 cats I caught took the bait just like a late spring or summer cat. They gulped and went. I used large sucker pieces. Even the teener I caught took the large piece of bait and hooked itself. I had another cat on the bank when it hit the second pole so I didn't even notice the bite until my rod bent over.(03-16-2021, 12:57 AM)Jig-fisher Wrote: [ -> ]3/15/21Way to go right out of the chute, good for 24.5 and 30 points. Not often you catch that quality of fish before you have time to get things ready for the year... I'll go look at the monster on my tablet so I can get it scored... Congrats and I'm so jealous I'm writing in green... Nice job... Jeff

What no 30"er today, I got on line knowing I'd need to post another fish for you... Well looks like John covered for you... Maybe I can try tonight and see if I can add one, if I don't forget my cut bait like I did last time.. Sure glad you two are on my team... Glad you're finding some good fish early this year, seems like things dried up for you guys later in the year last year like they do for me every year... Hope I can add something that will help... BTW ice is now off one of my favorite spots, so hopefully the fish will follow shortly behind... Good luck... Jeff

Wednesday's are tough for me to find any time break away to fish. So I didn't even wet a line. I did see John posted a fish, which is a good start. I seem to find my big fish within the 1st couple of months, then it gets tough. I might get a chance today to give it a try.
Hopefully you'll get into the cats up there. A few warm days with sunshine will get them moving.
