Think farm raised salmon is healthier than wild salmon? Think again. A recent study published in Science magazine comparing the two found farmed salmon contains higher concentrations of cancer-causing contaminants than wild salmon.
The study concluded that while people can eat four to eight wild salmon meals a month without significant health risks, consumption of more than eight ounces of farmed salmon a month causes an "unacceptable cancer risk."

I have a preference to fresh caught myself. Farm raised and hatchery pets have the same ring to them for me. Once in awhile is fine but I don't go out of my way to buy them. Thanks for the article.

I'm sick of hearing about all these "studies" that say you can get cancer from things that people have been doing for decades and havent had a problem.

I bet that if you fish all the way up to the end of your life that you will die from it.

JUST WAIT FIVE YEARS AND THE [#ff0000]SCIENTIST[/#ff0000][#000000] WILL REVERSE THEIR FINDINGS LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO. I SAY YOU CAN LIVE LIFE DOING WHAT MKES YOU HAPPY AND WHEN YOU DIE YOU CAN SAY "MAN THAT WAS FUN" OR YOU CAN GO THROUGH LIFE WORRYING ABOUT WHAT'S GOING TO KILL YOU. WHEN THE TIME COMES TO DIE YOU'LL SAY DARN I SHOULDA, COULDA AND WOULDA BUT IT'S TO LATE. SO I'M GOING TO EAT THE FOOD I LIKE AND DO THE THINGS THAA MAKE ME HAPPY AND IF I DIE A FEW YEARS EARLIER ALEAST I'LL BE ABLE TO SAY COULD, WOULD AND DID. [angelic]GETTING CANCER FROM EATING FISH IS THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES. P.S. HOW MUCH AND HOW LONG DID THEY FORCE FEED RATS TO COME UP WITH THEIR FINDINGS.[

That's exactly what I mean my friend.[cool] If I live to be 99yrs old and they find me with a fishing pole in my hand by a body of water, I want them to come up with a conclusion that fishing kills you. There would be no better way to die.

Just quoting from other sources. I'd rather catch the fish then get them at the store anyway. It's more fun.

I agree[cool] Catching them is always better!

I agree that science and medicine is important but like I read above half the time they reverse they original findings!
Sometimes I think they have a dart board they spin around and throw darts at to decide what's good and bad. In the meantime that sandwich they left on window sill and forgot about will create a new medicine[crazy]

Hehe. Just like the Alfalfa Sprouts thing that was in the news about 6 yrs ago. E-coli has been found to thrive in fresh alfalfa sprouts. They've also reported that arsenic is naturally found in carrots. That was on the news like 10 yrs ago.

Another good one! They also announce years ago that Tetanus lives in the soil. Recently they also let loose that Anthrax is also naturally in our soil.
It kind of makes you wonder. What else is there??[shocked]

lets not forget botulism, it too lives in the soil and plants absorb it through the roots, and poor canning pratices can cause deadly results as the organism breeds and mustiplies in the container.
