Decided I better get a day on the water to tune-up for a Bear L run next week before oncoming weekend storm starts to change things towards winter. Picked up AFDan at 0630 and got on the water about 8ish. When we launched courtesy slip docks were off to both sides of ramp, but they were removed and wedge dock installed. The morning was cool, water temp at 57°, a small breeze provided a slightly larger than ripple effect which eventually settled to glass conditions. By 10am diehard lake lice showed up in a wake setter boat. One single boat kept the water in higher-than-normal waves. Fishing started out slow, as the morning progressed, we found that some usual koke gear in pink & green color worked best. The day ended up with about 22-25 bows to the boat, about 6 turned into being nice size between 1¾-2lb bows, all released. The algae bloom was terrible with large balls in one section about the middle of the lake going south.
Nice looking 2lb Bow

Nice healthy bow Roger, looks like you and Dan had a nice day there. Did you see any turkey on the drive in?
Last weekend was pretty good to, over 40 bows

Nice bow Jason, good to see you are still hanging in there with us. Any parasites on the bows that you noticed?
Seen turkeys going to & from EC. Didn't see any parasites on any of the fish we caught.

Seems those turkey are always down in the foothills now days. Hopefully that parasite issue is over but in years past they seem to start coming out of those bows when the water temps get down to a certain point, that seems to happen late Oct into Nov and up ice up conditions.
I just about run over some turkeys on the east side of Rockport driving in this past Tuesday. I caught 1 bow and could not hook any perch. The bite was so lite I couldn't hook them. I found the perch by the dam in 50 ft of water, but it was time for me to leave for the day.
Has anyone targeted the Crappie at EC this year and if so, what have the results been???

I was thinking that the sores that parasites make get healed over in the summer, so most people never notice them but as the water cools in the Fall, those parasites come back out of the bows and then we start seeing them again. It's nice to see some bigger bows in EC.
What development is going in across the road from entrance into EC?

Think they could be expanding the state park campground?

That was my thought of this development at first. Could it be EC is turning into another PV?

Well EC is a state park, so it's unlikely that it would ever turn into PV type situation but all the state parks are expanding in recent years, in one way or another. Echo added on another camp ground and rebuilt it's main camping area, Willard is expanding by adding a new day use area, like it's Eagle beach and Pelcan beach, and Lost creek expanded it's camping areas this year, so it makes sense that EC would do the same.
Isn't that owned by Yaryca? Part of a couple of thousand acres that they have there?

What is Yaryca? What would they be building there, any idea?
