I took my group of newbies to Strawberry today and took the shuttle out northeast of the marina. We set up in 74 fow. There was 18-24” of snow on top of 18” of ice. No slush except for a little that developed around our holes.

My niece caught a 16” cutthroat on the first drop. It happened to be on one of Pat’s white wobbler jigs tipped with a wax worm. We all caught slot cutthroats pretty steadily, on white and green jigs, tipped primarily with wax worms. We did use a couple of Pat’s small chub minnows to great effect. A white paddlebug produced a couple of fish. Photo is of my wife with a nice fish. We also caught a few cuts on kokanee rigs (pink flasher with pink squid or Swedish pimple). No kokanees were iced.

We caught six smaller cuts that came home and joined us for dinner. Man, I love smoked trout!

Thanks for the report. I think Strawberry has been my favorite place to fish this winter.
