Wife has never been to Currant Creek. We were going to look for Grouse Monday in some of our old haunts aroundĀ soapstone but thought I might drive over to Currant Creek, instead, to show her the area. What I cant recall is if any of the inlet streams are clients to whip a fly in and if the area is "grousey" at all. It will be mostly a drive and wander day as the Wookie can barely walk nowdays.
We go camping to Currant Creek a couple times a year. One of the coolest things I have seen is we watched a family of bald eagles grow up there, and their aerial acrobatics above the reservoir. We were setting up camp in the undeveloped area on the creek below the dam, and a grouse flew about 10 feet over my head with a juvie eagle chasing it into the brush, landing about 50 feet from me. The mom or dad was circling the canyon walls above the juvie watching him or her. After 3 or 4 minutes, the juvie lighted into the air again, but I did not see anything in his or her talons, and I didn't see any feathers when inspecting the bushed they crashed in to. It was so cool!
I see grouse up there, usually around the creek, and up in the canyon on the west side of the reservoir. But, I haven't ventured in to the bush to chase them. If nothing else, I hope it is a relaxing drive! Well, except the dirt road around the reservoir; that road is a lower back bounce test if there ever was one!
I had a really enjoyable trip that way - even with the insane crowds. Will post on it soon
