No. Not a Utah Report but the Wyoming board seems dead so I opted to drop it here...

Spent 5 days up in the Wind River mts. Camped at Fremont. Stayed in the Forest Service campground vs. Boondocking as a storm was moving in and I did not want to be stuck.

Our target was lakers from the shore. Have had success with that latter in the year as the temps drop in past trips.

Started fishing at New Fork lake. My brides favorite. Buckwheat smoked us. He caught a bunch of rainbows while we were trying to get a laker. He caught his on bait. We also caught some on spinners and spoons. Unfortunately no lakers. I blame the unseasonably warm weather in Oct along with unfortunate timing of our trip on the full moon. Definitely can not be us. Right ?

Tried a new lake (to us?) Little Half Moon. Not the Half Moon right next to Fremont. Absolutely beautiful lake but not a bit of fish sign. I dont think it had winter killed we did not see any fishy sign. Got some good wildlife and drone footage there.

Also chased grouse with success. Made another cowboy Kent Rollins camp meal. We love him and his recipes.

Wookie is still alive and was able to make the trip. I have a remarkable story about that but will save it for the next report.

The wind river range is just breathtaking. One of our most anticipated trip of the years.

Video link. It will be two parts. Will have part two next week. Just not very fast at editing stuff.

Look forward to watching this one and the next... I love the Wind River range, it's the best... Thanks ..later Jeff
Another fun adventure enjoyed the video. Wookie enjoyed the raw meat, reminiscing the flavor of what his ancestors survived on, way to go Buckwheat. Smellavision! I like that terminology. Looking fwd. to part 2.
Yes, it is definitely beautiful country. I should put it on my bucket list because I've never been there before. I paint in watercolor and there were definitely some great looking areas that would make some great paintings. Especially the opening of the video, the background was very nice. Looked like a good campground. Did you have storms come through.

Thanks for sharing the video it was one of your best. Looking forward to part 2.
Go Buckwheat!!!

We love that area. I take my gold pans everytime and then forget to spin some mud in them

You sure would not know the Wookie was on his death bed a few days earlier. He really rebound so he could go adventuring

It was smoky from the Trail fire the first couple days so our footage was ok but really did not do it justice. Watercolor works i have seen of that area are amazing. It did push a storm front in the second part of our trip that cleared the area so we got some good footage in part 2. Fremont campground is very nice. All asphalt. Can handle big rigs and has great color and shading with amazing views we generally prefer more boondock style spots for elbow room. But this late in the year there were only a couple rigs in the campground

He out fished us easily 10-1 over the fulltrip. I did not get a lot of it on film as I was always looking for a grouse in the bushes.
Good excuse. Grouse are not easy. But hey. Ten to one. Wow.

Go buckwheat! Smile
