I have been wanting to fish Starvation for several years but this old body and broken parts just hasn't been doable.

Wed. I talked Violet into giving it a try. I have never been on the Res. in a boat so I really had no fixed idea of where to start. Not being a trolling type person didn't help either. One thing I do know is that there are a verity of fish to target.

I decided fishing for trout would be the targeted species of the day. With a partial hand full of Flashers and some of those Squidy looking things and a can of worms we began trolling the shore line. We used some snap weights to get us down a bit. How much? I'm still trying to figure that out.

I hooked up first. With a quick glimpse of the rainbow I told Vilot to release it. Hooked up again, told her to release it. She replied back, I think these are bigger than you think. She pulled out the tape  and measured 16". We caught several more, released some and lost some before I hooked into what I had gone for, a 20''er, the only one. It has been a long time that I have brought any trout home. Two meals so far and yes they tasted pretty good.

It was fun to get some trout and to fish with lighter tackle but they sure don't hold up to a 28-32' Channel Cat.

I'm pretty sure we graft some perch but did not want to take the time trying to catch them.

The Parks employees met us at the ramp and began pulling the docks as we were launching. They also had everything buttoned up as well, except for a paperless pit toilet.

A beautiful day to be out with a great friend and companion.

Yes those are great rainbows. Look like steelhead. Did you take pictures?
I haven't been to Starvation in years but I remember those nice healthy bows that come out of that lake, always fun to catch and it sounds like you and V had a great time for your first trip there. Did you make it up lake, above the bridge?

We did. We spent most of our time fishing north of the boat ramp, trying to get familiar with that area then went south under the bridge. Did not have time to try Rabbit Gulch. Most of the fish we marked were either side of the bridge on the west side.

Hopefully We will get another chance to get back over before ice up. I would like to learn that place before while I still can.
