Fished the Gorge yesterday. Started at Confluence point (rd11) only one person on the ice. Checked 3 different areas to get on and found the ice to be very inconsistent. Spudded my way out feeling pretty good and then it would go to an inch or so. Spud went right thru no prob. Quite a few people fishing the blacks arm off of lost dog. Back tracked to half way hollow area and found much better ice at 12-16in. Water is very stained from run off. Could barely see my puck in the hole 11in down. The ice although thick was very beat up from the warm spell. Lots of puddling areas that was starting to freeze back up. Pressure ridges were nothing to be messing around near. Lots of open water near them. We fished 20ft of water and pulled 20 lakers 27in being the biggest. Also pulled in 4 burbot.. be safe out there and check that ice thoroughly as it is not the best.

Thank you for your report and details!  Glad you had a productive and safe time on the ice!
Well done Matt, very productive day
Great report and pics, especially that nice laker Matt, thanks for sharing it with us but weren't you talking about going to Fontenelle?
Thanks guys, it was a very productive day. Sky ended up with 26lbs of filets for the smoker. Was going to do the mack derby next weekend but we're not liking the ice there. Depending on how the weather goes next weekend we'll more than likely camp at fontenelle.
Way to go Matt, that was a brave trip with the way the ice was going away... Glad you found some safe ice and didn't take the plunge on the sketchy stuff you started out on... Pretty cool you found a good batch of pups to play with too... makes a fun trip.... Even if it was only a day trip... Later J
