Can someone please let's us know how this bill got in. They are trying to take our water ways away with out a word to the public ?
It's actually HB 386...and, yeah, it looks like garbage. It needs to be fought!!

Yep.  H.B. 386 Public Waters Access Act Amendments

And yes, it needs to be fought tooth and nail.  Your legislators will be for this bill simply because, for the most part, your legislators are landowners, and this bill definitely favors landOWNERS over land USERS (you and me).  You need to contact your legislators immediately, if not sooner, and DEMAND they vote against this bill.

Thanks for the list.  Here's what I've sent to my rep and senator who I now find are on the above committees.

H.B. 386 - Please vote 'No'

Proposed amendments to H.B. 386 again moves the goalpost for establishing Utah’s historically navigable waterways. The proposed amendments further enable privatization of historic public access. Preservation of public access to Utah's historically navigable waterways would be better served with a more clear and open judicial process for establishing such.
Senator Blouin indicated he will vote 'No'.  Smile

My Senator (Mussleman) said this: "I will consider what you and others have shared with me as I vote on HB386."  Dodgy
why are we not naming names on who put forward this bill....don't all bills have the sponsors on them ?

I emailed my representatives! Utah continues to be unfriendly to recreational users of waterways used for commerce.
Owens is a No

Thanks for sharing an interesting read.
This is who we vote for and what we get for doing that.
The legislature does not and never will work in the interests of the sportsman. Their interests are developers, ranchers and resource extractors.
This will pass, mark my words and we will live with it just as the law passed against sportsman in 2010 was negotiated behind closed doors, completely ignored the law negotiated by Laurie Faulk on behalf of sportsman and gave away hundreds of miles of "navigable" miles of rivers to private landowners along with all of the publicly owned fish in them.
I do see a flaw in this law as it is currently presented but I am sure they will change the language to suit their large donators wishes.
It is possible that this law violates federal laws, but chances of any action on that is a dream, once again because of who we vote for and the fact that they care nothing for Utah sportsman.

Right on Kim!!
I'd like to see a bill saying if a landowner runs cattle on public land (state or federal), they have to allow access to their private property. "Chew" on that!!!
