As others have reported and I will second, the super cold temps have firmed up the ice conditions hopefully for a few more weeks? We didn’t get the the lake to start fishing until about 1:30 Om and fished for about 3.5 hours.
We took 4 wheelers out no problem Getting on the Ice at the ramp, got to where the big crack had refrozen, decided to check it and drilled holes. I’ve was thinner but it was about 4 inches solid ice so drove wheelers across with no issues . Saw a couple other wheelers and snowmobile out on others areas of the lake also. Cold temps should just increase the thickness for several more days. Always play it safe, If no tracks and if you are unsure, check anytime you venture in uncertain areas. Fishing as pretty much as it has been we fished 30 to 35 foot depth with the usual gear And perch eye, we caught lots of smaller fish, we culled 60 between 3 of us in the 9-10 inch range. Did have to move a few more times to find more consistent action. Saw and talked to others that said it wax great for them as well. If we didn’t get a fish in just a few minutes we move 20-39 yards I drilled probably 8 holes with little to no action then we hit a good spot and it was on. Brother showed up a bit later and decided to move off a couple hundred yards, at his first spot not much moved another 50 yards and it was fast. I moved over by him and we had pretty constant action and were able to cull a nice batch to fillet, my buddy stayed at last spot and he had steady action and culled 40 nice fillet size. * note it pays t move don’t assume it’s slow everywhere if you are not getting action, try another spot. So thanks to the weather some perch action still happening.
