For those that might be interested, there is a perch tournament at Fish lake on Feb 22, from 6 am till noon.
Hopefully, the weather is good, and they have a huge turnout.

I was thinking the same thing. They were showing last years tournament on Outdoors with Adam Eakle, it looked like a great event, barring bad weather.
Is this for real? I don't see any mention of a DWR run perch tournament since 2022, the one I'm finding for the 22nd of this month is posted on Instagram and you need an app to register, is that the one you guys are talking about? Thanks for any info.

Edit: This is indeed for real. Thanks for the heads up.

I went to this tourney pre-Covid.
The FS would clear out the DR Creek family campground parking lot and also clear all the snow down to the Mallard Bay overflow campground.
I would take my camper down and camp for free for a few days and fish the tourney.
Dang good times!

Me too, one time I caught 150+ perch but they had converted to the raffle system that year.  The next year was the time the wind destroyed the tournament.  It looks like this one is run by a third party and you sign up for it through the Fish Donkey app?  I might try it.
It’s on the FishDonkey app. Super easy to get and use the app. If anyone needs help on it, let me know.

I was there that year also.
I won the one-man contest and after collecting my prize I went back to where my Otter Lodge ‘had’ been.
I had not staked it.
Found it rolled about 300 yrds away, while throwing all my gear out. Including my sonar and my $6k prosthetic hand.
Found most of it, most grateful I found my hand. Try to explain to insurance company you lost your prosthetic in an ice fishing derby. Haha.
Helped a few other people off the ice and then loaded up snowmobile and camper and got out of there, just in the nick of time to not get truck/trailer stuck in parking lot for a few weeks at least.

We were probably the last people to leave, and by the time the DWR guy came and knocked on our tent it was clearing and the clouds were breaking...blue sky, sunshine...the drive back totally clear.  An hour earlier I had peeked out of my tent and insanity was happening, gear blown clear across the lake and 50 feet up into the trees, people dragging their tents full of gear back to their cars like duffel bags because their sled was a mile away.  I had already learned to put eight oversized stakes in the ice at Fish Lake even if the sky is blue from one end to the other.
