went up to Joe's valley yesterday and had one of the best day's ice fishing i have had all year.. not becaus of just the fishing but the day was just perfect sun shine no wind and splake on tap all day!! we got there about 9:00 am yesterday got down the hill and started drilling holes..note there is no problem with the ice there!! it right up to the top of the ice and it about 30" thick!! i started getting hit right away on ice fly tiped with millworm hook 3 in about 20 min's then it stoped.. my buddy then started hitting them on white twist tail tiped thith power bait.. so i went to white tube tiped with sucker minnows and started hitting them again.. thats the way it went all day you just had to keep changing stuff around to keep catching fish.. just about any thing worked tip with millworm, minnows,or power bait.. worms did not work at all.. we cought splake all day steady.. we caught around 45 to 50 fish between the two of us..we did get 3 cutt's and 1 cutbow.. all the fish we caught was skinny and looked starved.. i think that they are not getting enough food in there for them.. or to many fish for the food they have.. still a great day on the lake!!!

Thanks for the report Fuzzy, sounds like a great day on the ice. How steep is the hike down the hill to the ice?

well where we went it was very steep but thats not what get's you..it's the deep snow that gets you.. you step off a rock and go up past your knees in snow.. then truge through the snow to get to the rocks again.. but the way the snow was melting up there yesterday that should not be a problem in 3 or 4 days..

So what is the best way to get to Joe's Valley from Salt Lake. I know the general area were it is located, just have never been there. Might make it one my last ice fishing trips of the year.

the best way for you would be to go through price over to huntington (city) then to orangeville from there just follow the signs and you will be there.. we fished by the dam down the side about 300 yards .. it a tuff hike down the hill so dont take any more with you than you have to..

good luck let us all know how you do..
