I was wondering if anybody heard anything about the new strain of European bows that are resistant/immune to Whirling disease? This should be a good thing for hatchery survival rates and improved natural reproduction.

There was an article in the Deseret News today about the Midway fish hatchery opening again and it said that Colorado is doing work with a "Hofer" strain of rainbow that was exposed to whirling disease in Germany and was not infected. Right now it is showing resistance to the disease similar to the brown trout. In colorado they are successfully crossing the fish with some wild rainbow. The article is on D1 of the Sports Page in Wed 3/10/04 issue. Acey
