As we all know it's starting to get warm out there and we all want to hit the soft water. This is for those guys that want to try and hook up with a big tiger. spring is known to picking up lots of smaller musky. But you still can hook the big one up there. Remeber that fish are cold blooded and in the spring the musky are a little slow most of the time. so fish slow.

What to use? well most guy you see up there will be throwing the same things they did back in sep. that will work sometimes, but me I plan on useing slow moving thinks like tube jigs (big ones) 9" slugos, floating cranks that float up slow. Bucktail spinners that you can bring in slow. Size wont matter all that much at first but try and stay around the 4"to 7" size on most lures. Remeber there food is bigger now and it will be a few before they have new minnows. so try and find lures the size of most of the bait fish.

colors? well the early spring color for musky is orange they see it better then any other color. and in spring they just seem to hit that color more. I'm sure it's because there bait seems to have orange on them for there spawn.

do tigers spawn? Well if you asked a tiger musky they would say yes. but they dont. some can even have eggs, sperm but they cant reperduce. they will sometimes move up into areas that would be where they would lay eggs it they could. and they do this this around april to may.

so If you plan on hiting pineview after the ice comes off keep this in mind. say hi to me when your up there. and remeber that 65" big boy is mine, and yes he is in there I've seen him so have a few other's

I'm going to try and remeber to do a tip each week for muskys for you all. "dont this make you want to go more?"

Hey Nomoose,

Thanks for the musky tip. I'm going to try for some tigers out in the basin from the kayak this spring. Where would the musky's be(shallow, weeds, off points)

I would try off point at first. in deeper water, but look for the bluegill to start to move shallow if they do so will the ski's. Now out there you will want to use a bit amaller lure I would think. Use the size of lures that you would for bass out there. should do great.
