[] My fishing partner is a very talented gentleman... a machinist by trade. He saw a "Box Anchor" in an ad, and set out to build one. He has shown me his work, and it looks great!
This monster anchor weighs about 30 pounds and is collapsable. It folds down and can fit inside a large ammo can. I believe that this anchor will hold a 25+ foot boat in silt. It has 4 large teeth to bite into the muck on each of two sides. The ends of the heavy steel plates are hinged together in such a manner so that one pin will allow the anchor to be a rigid box or fold down into the storage position.
We're going to test this anchor this weekend at the Robert S Kerr ACATS tournament. Report and pictures to follow.
