i was just wondering if there is any open water at all at either of these lakes? and if there is where is it at and how much is there?

I was at Fontanell yesterday. There is plenty of solid ice there and no open water. The edge of the ice was good. The ice by the dam was 20+ inches with little or no slush on top. The fishing for me was poor, but that seems to be my luck lately. No bites in 4 hours so I packed up and went to Half Moon Lake. The fishing was a little better there, with 5 rainbows caught in the remainder of the day. Lake trout fishing at Half Moon Lake was slow. I had a few lookers and one bite. I saw two lake trout caught between 5 people fishing for them. The ice at Half moon was around 20-24 inches thick with a little slush. The edges were good. I've heard that the Gorge is open around the dam and that boats are being launched fron the Mustang Ridge and Cedar Springs marinas.
