I am looking for any opinions on Bottom Line fish finders, primarily the 4300 tournament. Help me out with good and bad opinions I don't care which. I have read a couple of the recent posts on fish finders and need a little more info on these particular ones.
My main question is does anybody know the cone angle for the Bottom Line 4300? Are all Bottom Line finders a 9 degree angle?
My cuda 168 just had problems with the temperature display so I took it back and got the display model 4300 tournament for $99. My only concern is if it's going to have a big enough cone angle to be useful ice fishing and float tubing in shallow waters ie. Scofield, Utah Lake, Deer Creek, etc.

I forgot to add that when I look around on the internet I get different reports of the cone angles so I was hoping somebody had more first hand knowledge or experience.

I think that the cone angle is 9*. This is narrow but my fishin' buddy has the same and I have learned to work with it. There is always something better out there but we sometimes just learn to do with what we have and be happy that we have it at all. It will do just fine when you learn how to adjust the settings and use it for a while.

I think the 4300 has an 18 degree angle. I am not really impressed with this fish finder, it is hard to use. I like Lowrance a lot better Just my two cents.

Wow, thats a great price for a unit like that with a side finder for shallow water and 3200 watts of power for deeper water. I think once you learn to use it that will be a great finder. Did it come with the speed function(paddle wheel)? If you decide you don't like it maybe we can make a trade? I have a Eagle Trifinder that works great for shallow water but isn't as good for deeper water because it doesn't have as much power as the 4300. WH2

I've been doing a little window shoping for a new fisher too. And,, I just so happen to have the spec's on the Tournament 4300 setting in front of me. Its 18 degree cone..

Thanks for all your opinions. I definitely can't complain about a $99 fish finder with as much power as this one has and with good pixels. What is a normal, or average, cone angle for a medium range (price wise) fish finder? Is 18 degrees small, large, or normal??

As I recall most come in about 20 degree as standard. If I'm not mistaken at 100' deep a 20 degree cone is showing me about 33' of the bottom. I like the smaller angles better for deep water.. Whats more,, I'm also adding a vexilar to my santa list of wants for next X-mas....
