JANESVILLE, WI—A recent early spring walleye outing netted a potential world-record bigmouth buffalo for Dave Tilton of Janesville, Wisconsin.

[#000000]Tilton was wading Lake Koshkonong and casting for walleyes about 45 minutes on March 22, when a 73-pound, 1 ounce bigmouth buffalo hit his jig. If accepted by the IGFA, the fish will shatter Wisconsin's 54-pound buffalo record, as well as break the All-Tackle record of 70 pounds, 5 ounces, set in Louisiana in 1980.[/#000000]

That's about 12 miles from where I'm at. I fish Koshkonong a bit. It's a big lake. Max depth is just a hair over 7 feet. Lots of big carp in there. Also lots of big Northern, and walleyes. It can be a tough lake to fish though. I snagged a buffalo in the rock river, which runs into it, 7 years ago that went about 50 pounds.
