I fished down there with Ronda again earlier tonight. We just drowned a few worms and got some nice suckers and mudders. The biggest sucker was 22", for the mudder it was 16". It was red hot when the clouds were blocking the sun, crappy when the sun was out. When we were about ready to go, she hooked into another sucker. It was about 6" long. On the way up, a great big walleye came up and slammed it. The dang thing ripped thru it, and came off right at the bank. It was definatly 28+ inches long. I'd figure atleast 8 pounds, probly 10. Oh boy! I'll tell ya what I'm using from now on! It scared her to death!

The walleye took your whole sucker! Wow!

Right up to the gills. I'd hate to be a little fish in there now. I bet those poor little whities get nailed all the time.

Sounds like you had a good time, JK15. I wasn't so fortunate tonight. I fished the Jordan tonight too. Over off of 39th South. Started out using a double set up off of a 3 way swivel. Worm on one side, and chicken liver on the other. Found out that that's a crappy way to go because they just tangle each other up, and then it looks very wierd and unnatural to the fish. After using that futile method for an hour with no bites, I switched to just chicken liver on a single Carolina Rig set up and had one bite, and lots of snags, and finally I got tired of getting rained on with no action so I left. Before I left though at about 8:15 about a 6 or 7 pound carp jumped out of the water about 10 feet away from me and scared the piss outta me!![laugh] I had a good laugh about it for about a minute later. Where I was fishing was just passed the condos where TIBBZ told me to go. There's a big swirl area right there but the current always pulls your bait in a huge circle and it ends up towards the left by a bunch of brush. Well, that's where I got my only bite, but I swear there must be a submerged tree there too 'cause I snagged up on the damn thing lots of times. Oh, and to make matters worse, my cell phone came unclipped off my belt and fell right down the steep muddy bank and right into the water (partially submerged)[pirate]. Fortunately it still works, but smells like that sewer mud crap. Gonna have to clean it up. THen I got home and set my tackle box down as I came in the door and got mud on our freshly washed new inside door mat.[mad]
Talk about the fishing day from hell!! I guess it could have been worse, I could have dropped my keys in the river! Because of all of those snags, I think next catfishin trip on the jordan I'll go over behind those industrial buildings on 9th west and about 27th south, or maybe I'll go to that park off of 35th south and 13th west or so.

WHERE DO YOU GO ON THE JORDAN, I AM LOOKING FOR SOME ACTION ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK AND WOULD LOVE TO HANG INTO A WALLEYE OR A FEW SUCKERS FOR BAIT EVEN.

Man, it sounds like you had it tough again. I don't know why the current is so dang bad up there. I think the brush is common in the river. I usually snag up and loose 3 or 4 riggs a trip down there. Kind of a pisser when I have to retie every 30 minutes. I've taken to taking down 2 rods, both rigged up so when I break off I'm right back in. Them carp sure are a pleasure. In that little canal by where I fish they were in there jumping all over. Man, I wish I had my bow down there...
I hate it when stuff falls in the water! I ruined my digital camra by doing that.
One spot I know of that you might have a better time at is the mouth of the cottonwood creek. Go on 500 west, and down into the industrial park to the west. Follow that down, and you can drive right to the river. My family used to drive down there all the time and nail suckers and carp. I even caught a couple blue gills last time I was there. Plus, there are some REALLY good sized browns in that hole. Good luck when you get out!

OH yeah!![laugh][laugh][laugh] Sorry out for trout I did forget to tell you that place can be a sinker eater I think your right about maybe a sunken tree (right in the middle and a little to the left). It is a good spot if you use enough weight, I caught an eight pound channel in that exact spot 2 years ago. You know how the water there spins around in that bowl, cast out past that in between the main currant and the soup bowl and remember use more weight.

[cool]Hey TIBBZ, thanks for the pointers, man. Now that the weather is going to be cool for the next week or two, I think I might try some of the trout holes in the valley til the wife gives birth to baby #1. Think I'll hit cottonwood creek and maybe mill creek to. Sounds like you and Jensonkid15 do well there. I'm gonna fish that for the next couple of weeks till it gets warm again, and then I'll go back after those big cats. Guess I could try the Jordan with some jigs for Walleye though.[:/]

With all the talk about dropping stuff in the Jordan River I can't resist. The worst thing I dropped in the Jordan was everything! - Tackle box, pole, bait, lunch, jacket, me, etc. The first and only time I tried to fish the Jordan river my brother and I took out the canoe, and tipped it over in less than a minute. My phone was in my pocket. Luckily it worked again after a few days. I keep wondering where the best place is to fish the Jordan, but it sounds like there are great spots along the whole length. good luck folks.
